Only a few days left to the 24th edition of the Branko Bošnjak Memorial, and we will take a look into this years fighters. And as always Branko Bošnjak Memorial attract many strong fighters ready to test their skills against each other – and to participate in one of the purest Full Contact Karate Kyokushin tournaments out there. And where else can one witness a lottery draw – regardless of merits and names!
Kokoro Cup – once again the date are set for this highly professional tournament. as before this has been a real highlight closing the year. The mix of a very high level fighters together with the pro setting of the event itself.
And a new angle are added to this years event – junior categories. One day with the seniors next day will the next generation show their skill.
As we all know the World Fullcontact Karate Organization will host the first World Championship in Japan next year. The WFKO has systematic grown in the wake of JFKO, which has long been well established. This spring we watched the 5th JFKO All Japan Open tournament – and could confirm top level, top support. The 1st European Fullcontact Karate Championship will as we know be a selection tournament to Japan 2020. But before this, there are also a similar tournament to be held in France 19-21 September. At last we are going into a new phase – and there is a lot of questions regarding to this settings..
One week ago the final selection for the 12th World Championship was held in Prague. Besides 33 fighters in the open-weight women division the tournament also was European Championship for Cadets, Juniors and U-21 in total close to 500 competitors was gathered in the Czech Republic for EC. Results and write ups have already been done, but we like to dive into this with some thoughts from our point of view.
In one weeks almost 500 Karatekas will be gathered in Prague, Czech Republic for the European Open weight Championship and the U-category/ cadets. Our focus are drawn to the open-weight category for women – since this is the selection for the World Tournament later on. But also on the menu Cadets, Juniors and Youth – Kata, not to forget. The Open weight category have at the time 33 fighters, from 14 nations..
The 5th All Japan Open Japan Fullcontact Karate Organisation JFKO weight category are now history, and we witness so many good fighters from the land of the raising sun. We have been pointing out the high number of fighters, and the huge support of many different Fullcontact organisations and styles. Now we get the chance to see the very high level these top fighters of the world possesses. And as mention we will see many of the best in the World Championship later this year. And this tournament prove that the JFKO continues to pull in the right direction – improving every time.
After a intense first day it is safe to say that The 5th All Japan Open JFKO tournament keeps a sky high level! With amazingly many very competent fighters in the line up, one really do have have “something extra” Another point is that the categories are so big, that it will give the top fighters a almost similar set up – as the World tournament. Fighting trough two days in categories with 108,82,65 and 48 (men’s division) and 39,29, 28 and 21 (women’s division) And do not forget that the FINAL DAY will be streamed LIVE.
