The 11th World Karate Championship later this year do have some changes that will give us an extra touch of excitement. This time the World Championship has been expanded with participants from other organizations. This is a exchange in relation to the cooperation between various organizations in the Kyokushin world.

For a while ago the Japanese team as presented, and that with great interests. Now the Russian team are ready, and the interest is not any less for this team! We all know that Russia is one of the greatest Kyokushin nation, and they will make a mark where ever the chose to participate. We also think that IF the tournament would have more fighters from each county – Russia could make several “top teams” However the team is ready, a strong mix of the Russian top fighters from various organizations.

Saturday 5th of September, it is once again time for the Danish Open. This is no less than a 25-year anniversary for the the traditional full contact tournament. The tournament has been where several top fighters has entered, specially from the northern Europe and the Eastern Europe. And for many, this could be the last stop before the World Tournament i Japan later this year. The tournament offers 4 divisions for men and 3 for women. And it is worth to notice that it will also be held a +40 years category for men – open weight class.

One of the leading nations i Europe, Lithuania, are doing their preparations for the upcoming The 11th World Championship in Japan in October. Moving some of the training outside the country, is one of the elements who will sharpen the athletes further, adopting to the surroundings and isolate the focus will make the fighters stronger. Training camps like this will help the fighters when they leave to Japan for the tournament. This fall several World Championship will be held. One of them The 2nd Kyokushin World Union World Championship, 3-4 October, Russia. The first World Championship was held two years ago in Bulgari. This is a tournament with weight categories,and the competitions will be held in 9 weight categories among men and 5 weight categories among women. Last time the Russian dominance was complete, as expected and its drawn in the same direction this time. (results 2013) WKO / Shinkyokushin Japan are supporting the tournament, lets take a look at those fighters!
The Royama/IFK based KWU are promoting heavily “It`s time to be united” no doubt about that, but a question could be asked why the tournament are held close to some of the biggest regular World Tournaments in the world.
As we speak several summer-camps are being held around the world, and more are yet to come. Looking at the calendar, and the schedule for tournaments this upcoming Autumn, we can see that in two short months – the tatami will call your name!
And as we all know, World Championship will also be a major factor this summer and fall, for athletes and team around them.

Oki Kodomo Open er et sant Kyokushin eventyr. Dette er turneringen som startet i det små i Banzai sine lokaler i 2008. Da staret dette som en klubbturering som skulle gi de yngste et trygt og utviklende tilbud. På den tiden ble turneringen kalt Oki Kodomo, senere utvidet dette seg til “Open” hvor andre klupper, organisasjoner og land kunne delta. turneringen dekker alderen 10-17 år. ↑ bildet av Conny Myrberg
