Lørdag 21.februar ble Scottish Open avholdt, og Norge var på plass med et blandet lag for å se hva man kunne få brynet seg på! Scottish Open er en middels stor turnering som passe norsk nivå godt. Turneringen har også novice klasse, altså en for mindre merriterte utøvere. Flere norske klubber deltok i helgens turnering med forskjellig målsetning ettersom hvilke utøver det dreide seg om.

Det 42. NM i Karate ble avholdt denne helgen, og det ble avholdt i Trondheim. NM har de siste år ikke “tatt av” om man kan bruke det uttrykket, og det har for mange blitt en rutinemessig affere som ikke gir all verden tilbake. På den andre siden er det stor gevinst å hente ettersom deltagelse og antall motstandere varierer mye fra klasse til klassse. Årets NM ble det første hvor man kvittet seg med den mye omtalte hjelmen, og det var av stor positiv betydning. Deltagermessig var det også flere artige innslag hvor debutanter og “gamle” comback.

Dutch Open Shinkyokushin 2015. One of the first tournament in the new year, the tournament offers Kata and Kumite. The tournament has been moved from time to time, and it may seem as if it has fallen slightly in interest compared to the previous year. this year’s tournament is missing some of the international participation has been in previous years. As well as Holland, was also Sweden, Belgium and Germany represented in this year’s tournament.

IKKU Independent Kyokushin Karate Union er en fristillt organisasjon som jobber åpent ut i mot alle andre. Årets Scottish Open har ikke mindre enn 5 norske på startstreken, noe som er veldig positivt med alt det medfører..
Heving av lov mot proffboksing og endring i knockout-loven påvirker også mange andre ettersom endringen i knockoutforskriften tro i kraft f.o.m. fredag 3. oktober 2014. Det har vært store forventninger ift denne endringen som vil påvirke Fullkontakt Karate Kyokushin (og andre fullkontakt stiler) Etter at knockoutloven ble vedtatt i 2001 har det vært en evig kamp for de som måtte ty til drastiske endringer i regelverket sitt, for å fortsatt kunne konkurrere i Norge..
A strong year from Ilya Yakovlev ends with victory in Kokoro Cup. The strong heavyweight from Kazakhstan wins Kokoro Cup and he can look back on a very strong year in terms of results. Not only did Yakovlev win Saturdays tournament, he is the Champion of the 15th Asia Open Championship, and “Andrey Materov memorial” tournament this year. The tournamnet had some noticeable changes, which meant that it got unexpected setup and results.
Swedish team grows, and several fighters in the Swedish troop are new faces in the European Championship / U22 context.
Poland, always hard working Kyokushin nation have their team ready for European Championship. With many athletes, Poland are filling up the different categories easy. With over fifty athletes in the national team, Poland will be one of the greatest nations that have signed up.

One of the strongest nations in Europe, Lithuania, is ready for Thr European Openweight Championship, U22 8-9. November. As the organizer, Lithuania has the opportunity to fight for the home crowd. And experience shows that there is a strong Lithuanian team to face. Lithuania has less strong performance in the men’s category in the open weight than the weight categories. But who knows, maybe this is the year where they will have an open weight champion.
