This fall several World Championship will be held. One of them The 2nd Kyokushin World Union World Championship, 3-4 October, Russia. The first World Championship was held two years ago in Bulgari. This is a tournament with weight categories, and the competitions will be held in 9 weight categories among men and 5 weight categories among women. Last time the Russian dominance was complete, as expected and its drawn in the same direction this time. (results 2013) WKO / Shinkyokushin Japan are supporting the tournament, lets take a look at those fighters!
The Royama/IFK based KWU are promoting heavily “It`s time to be united” no doubt about that, but a question could be asked why the tournament are held close to some of the biggest regular World Tournaments in the world.
Russia, Kazakhstan and Lithuania made this years tournament a top level tournament.Swiss Open has a strong tradition in being a good tournament with top level and many fighters. Top level whit out a doubt! – but few fighters made it change the weight categories to only two in the men division and one in the women.
Same weekend as the French Open, but on Sunday the 14th of June, Austrian Open was arranged. Top nations as Hungary, Poland and Georgia was at the line up, and this was also the same nations who entered the podium. Georgian fighters have been very active this spring, and from European Championship (EC) Shinkyokushin i Poland, to EC Royama in Germany and now at last Austrian Open. But one Spanish fighter did also enter the podium twice in two days! French Open 1st place – Austrian Open 2nd place..Ferran Gandia Shinkyokushin Spain
The different organizations have different rules when it comes to which countries that can enter the EC. The main difference is, with or without Russia and Kazakhstan. And open to the whole world.

This year European Championship was without a doubt a great success. And in several ways did this EC manage to be good. The part of organizing was good, information, arena LIVE stream and all the work we not see at the day of the tournament. This year’s participation was also very good. Variety and number of countries / practitioners have rarely been better. Many struggle with the number of poor divisions, while WKO seems to increase. This also increases the standards of those participating in the tournament.
