Nordic Open 2026 is an International Kyokushin tournament, Kumite and Kata, for children, cadets, juniors, seniors and veterans. The tournament have shown great growth, and proven that everything works very well for all parts involved. 2025 gathered 324 athletes.

At the risk of repeating myself – the Nordic Open is a very well-established championship, which is basically aimed at a wide range of athletes. The Nordic Open is well organized in every way, and there is a reason why it has grown bigger with each passing year. (Picture by Annika Peterson)

The Nordic Open is becoming more and more international each year. The base of athletes is in the Nordic countries, but more and more countries are entering the championship -U.K. andΒ  Switzerland is a good example from 2025, entering with a large strong team.

The junior category U-18 holds a very high level, with many of the top fighters from Sweden. These fighters are among the top level i Europe. Solid number of fighters i the line up, the re-qualification system ensures athletes a lot of match time and thus experience that builds a young athlete. (Picture by Annika Peterson)

As mentioned, it is mainly aimed at the breadth when it comes to the level. In senior +18 there are not participants with European Championship medals and the like, but athletes (mainly) with somewhat less experience. That being said, we saw trends in 2025 that this level is also creeping upwards. (Picture by Annika Peterson)
