Camp Banzai 2025 – “hips don’t lie”!

Camp Banzai Sweden – Gàbor Ròzsa was the headliner this year – but there is actually more that draws people to this camp than the elite trainers of the world.

Once again, a camp is being organized that covers all wants and needs. If you have heard of Camp Banzai or even been there – you might relate to what we write.

The camp attracted close to 100 people, mainly from Sweden and a gang of happy campers from Norway, about twenty in the number.

The organizer: Banzai Kyokushin karate

One can describe the organizer and the solid work that is done, but it is also obvious when you look at the quality and not least continuity over time. So, what distinguishes one organizer from another? There can be several things, but one very important and decisive one is: do you organize for yourself or do you organize for others? In this, there is no doubt, Banzai does this for others – and it wholeheartedly.

This is undoubtedly felt by participants, and it makes you feel more deeply connected to an environment – or, as in this case, an event. It is no coincidence how the camp is shaped. And over the ten years there have been small adjustments for the better all along the way. An example is how the timetable and meals are adapted to a rich training program.

The Event – Camp Banzai

From Friday to Sunday participants get a full-packed camp, with top instructors combined with the values of Banzai. A nice afternoon session on Friday starts the camp gently, before Saturday kick off. After 3 sets of training (with small breaks) and a solid lunch (pasta, chicken and vegetables)

The Raven Hill race will take place. Divided into teams (and that’s the clue team-building) the Karatekas enter the track in the nearby park – a track with some exercises “to go”

Later on combined  the team will get ready for a new and quite different challenge: to make a little program, based on funny things picked up trough the day! And it’s fair to say that the that the atmosphere increases, especially when the guest instructor also gets some well-deserved attention! All this combined with a super dinner, top food so much you can eat – in good company with the rest of the camp!

Training

As mention, one get a good amount of training at the camp, and that on the highest level. The Banzai team work consciously to bring in instructors who fit the time and place. When you see which instructors (and when) you find another good reason to attend this camp. This year’s instructor Gàbor Ròzsa / Hungary is no exception.

Gàbor Ròzsa / Hungary

Gàbor Ròzsa has a unique style and knowledge. And even so it’s been several years since he retired – it’s impressive to see him in action. Tons could be written about him, and merits could be listed

– but he, along with a few others in the world, proved to everyone that you could win fights in Kyokushin even if you moves backwards! The technical level we are talking about here is far above normal.

It is always a point to mention, that being a skilled fighter not necessary means that you have naturally teaching skills. But in this case –  Gàbor Ròzsa keep the same top level, fighter as well as instructor.

Patiently, layer upon layer was presented and drilled into the audience. To ensure that his lessons were picked up, a lot of time was spent drilling instructors. They were used in the drills – and there they were allowed to work until Gàbor Ròzsa was sure that what was being passed on was understood.

Stone by stone was laid throughout the weekend, and even though we didn’t quite manage to achieve everything at the high technical level, we got the understanding – and then the rest is homework!

We can only thank the Banzai crew and the environment for hosting another great event for everyone who want to learn from the best, have a good time and and socialize!
