Batumi Open – highly interesting tournament! Some of the absolute best fighters from Europe – Spiced up with a significant sharp team from Kazakhstan!
The Batumi Open holds 400 participants. (That’s the size of the 2025 European Karate Championship J16 and U21 this Spring) From U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18 and up to adults, seniors. The senior categories, one for women and one for men. These two categories have no weight limitation, Open-weight as we know it.
The U- categories naturally holds weight of the number of participants, but the senior division contains (at this point) 61 fighters. 25 in the women’s category and 36 in the men’s. The team from Batumi Open 2023 ⇓
Georgia are really pushing hard at the time. Not only with working holding tournaments like this, but to be everywhere always. The the frequency activity are really impressing, and the team of Georgia is growing – and produces hardcore tough athletes with great intensity. Not to forget: will be the host of EC in 2026!
According to official information, deadline for national teams was 01.08.2025, however the registration by Kumite Technology states: Registration is open from 07/16/2025 to 09/29/2025
If you are a top fighter and still not signed up, you should consider this strongly – because this tournament will test you, shape you and develop you in the process.
International tournament
14 nations are registered, with the European countries like Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine. Oman and Pakistan registered with one athlete each, and Kazakhstan with 78 fighters, that include some of the most profiled fighters in the senior division.

We really want to see a rematch from last year: Ossipenko vs Sekunda – that could be a crowd-pleaser! For the record, Ossipenko won with full Ippon to the body. A match between Valeriya Krestina / Kazakhstan vs ⇓ Csenge Tóth / Hungary will also be of great interest.
Not to forget that this in an Open-Weight category, we are impressed by the number of athletes and the record they have. Many of the name mention above, are more or less to see at he top podium in tournaments as European Championship. ⇓ Solmaz Zeynalli / Azerbaijan
Men’s category
The men’s category have the same high standard, filled up with top fighters from some of the strongest nations. ⇓ Salahat Hasanov / Azerbaijan, Anton Zimarev / Kazakhstan, Davit Mskhaladze / Georgia, Patrik Lajtos / Hungary, Justinas Kvietka / Lithuania, Anjey Kinzerskiy / Kazakhstan – this is only the top of the iceberg.
One thing for sure: one will quite fast reach very tough and demanding fights in this tournament, you have to push hard to reach the top 8!
Dream fights
Depend on the draw and fights, it might happen, but one could very much like to see at match up between Salahat Hasanov / Azerbaijan vs Anton Zimarev / Kazakhstan for an example!
We would also like to see ⇓ Patrik Lajtos / Hungary vs Rustam Avzalov / Kazakhstan. As always, it will be really interesting when one can have fights between fighters from different regions.
